ABOUT ME

I am a proud husband to Kim, proud Dad to four boys and proud Queenslander.  I love being outdoors, which conflicts, I know, with being a writer, but you have to have somewhere to sit and fill in time while you drink your coffee.

I love the beach and any body of water really, be it camping by a creek or the magnificent Lake MacKenzie on Fraser Island, or having a body surf on the Gold or Sunshine Coast.  I love mountains and will one day climb something bigger than my favourite Mt Barney.  I like to rock climb, though time contrains this pastime.

I work in finance and am degree qualified to go with my own financial studies and learnings.  Options and Forex trading intrigues me and I find the more I know, the less I realise I know about markets. I trade daily, and it is a slow-building hobby.

Sport is my lifeblood and Number 1 conversation starter.  Cricket, football (or soccer, I am not such a purist to make a fuss), rugby league and whatever else is in season.  I love the history and the statistics of great sporting achievements.

I am new to this travel thing but having driven around Italy and France in recent years, I have a travel bug that is demanding my attention.

I am seriously passionate about music, love hard rock and old school rap.  I play lame guitar and legendary air drums!

My writing is a passion.  I had some short stories published before my kids were born and actually wrote a novel that never saw daylight. Kids became a priority so writing hibernated within me until now.  I took just on two years to write my first novel, published in 2015, am two-thirds through Novel 2 and have novels 3, 4, 5 planned out in my head.  They just need to stand in line and wait their turn to see the light of this world.  All in good time, I say.

I am inspired by novels that have great characters.  And I love drawn out family sagas of the sort Tim Winton, Bryce Courtenay and Jeffrey Archer write.  I love it when I find a character's voice and I feel like I know this person for real.  They demand a bigger role in the story (or maybe a story of their own).
